Smith Moon & Star Green Glass Ruffled Pedestal Compote Bowl

This bright green Moon & Star pedestal compote is full of personality. The pressed-glass bowl opens into a wonderfully wavy, ruffled rim, and its raised circular moons and little starburst details catch the light from every direction. The short stem and round foot give it a lovely, balanced silhouette.

The Moon & Star pattern is a favorite among collectors of American pressed glass. Its origins reach back to Adams & Company's nineteenth-century Palace pattern, with later versions and expanded forms produced by L.E. Smith Glass. This distinctive ruffled compote is attributed to L.E. Smith, although no definitive maker marking is visible in the supplied photos.

It's just the right size for a small candy display, a few lightweight treasures, or a colorful accent on a shelf or table. The lively green color looks especially beautiful alongside other Moon & Star pieces.

Maker: Attributed to L.E.
