Instead of the familiar hen, this piece features a detailed American eagle with its wings spread, creating a bold display piece with plenty of molded detail.

The two-piece covered dish is made from opaque white milk glass. The eagle forms the lid, with individually molded feathers across the wings and body giving it a surprisingly detailed appearance. The bird sits above a textured landscape-style base on the lid, while the lower dish features a woven basket pattern that gives the piece the traditional “on nest” appearance.

One of the eagle’s original applied eyes remains in place, while the eye on the opposite side is missing. This is clearly visible in the photographs and is the primary condition issue to note. Aside from the missing eye, the piece presents very well, with the glass retaining its glossy white appearance and strong molded detail.

The combination of patriotic imagery and classic Westmoreland milk glass makes this an interesting piece for several different collections. It would display especially well with other Westmoreland animal dishes, milk glass, American eagle collectibles, or traditional Americana decor.

The lid and base are both included and fit together as shown. Because of the missing eye, we’ve photographed the eagle from multiple angles so its condition can be evaluated accurately.

Details: Westmoreland Glass • white milk glass • eagle on nest covered dish • two-piece construction • American eagle design • molded feather detailing • basket-weave base • one applied eye present • opposite eye missing • otherwise good pre-owned condition.

Please review all photos carefully, particularly the close views of the eagle’s head. One eye is missing as noted above, and minor surface wear consistent with age and previous handling may be present.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0784/7637/8297/files/tsv-wg20-westmoreland-glass-milk-glass-eagle-on-nest-covered-dish-american-eagle-1261390876.jpg?v=1791475492
https://thirdstopvintage.com/products/westmoreland-glass-milk-glass-eagle-on-nest-covered-dish-american-eagle
