L.E. Smith Moon & Star Amberina Cadmium Glow Glass Canister with Lid – 7 Inch

This brilliant amberina Moon & Star glass canister is a colorful piece of vintage kitchenware and a standout for any collection. Its pressed-glass body is covered in large raised moon circles and small starburst motifs, with rich red-orange tones that shift toward a glowing golden amber in the light. The matching lid finishes the jar with a rounded, textured knob and decorative star details. This piece has been UV-tested and glows under ultraviolet light due to its cadmium-containing glass.

The Moon & Star design has its roots in the nineteenth-century Palace pattern made by Adams & Company. L.E. Smith Glass later produced the familiar Moon & Star pattern in an expanded range of colorful twentieth-century forms, including these decorative kitchen canisters. This example is attributed to L.E. Smith; an exact manufacturing date has not been established.

At approximately 7 inches tall with its lid, it is a wonderful size for a shelf, kitchen counter, or glassware display. It looks beautiful alongside other amberina, red, or orange vintage glass pieces. The underside of the lid has a matte, ground-looking fitting ring, shown in the close-up photographs; please examine this area carefully when assessing condition.
