L.E. Smith Moon & Star Green Glass Open Salt Dip

A small green glass salt dip with plenty of detail, this piece features the familiar Moon and Star pattern around a rounded bowl. Circular moon-like medallions sit above molded stars, while the scalloped rim follows the repeating design. A short raised ring foot supports the bowl, and a starburst is molded into the underside.

The transparent green glass catches the light across its pressed decoration and rounded rim. The color looks lighter through the thinner areas and deeper around the foot and heavier molded details. Its compact form gives the Moon and Star pattern a different look from the larger bowls, goblets and covered dishes in the same family.

The shape and ring-foot construction support an attribution to L.E. Smith. Specialist open-salt references distinguish this raised ring base from the broader, flatter base found on the similar L.G. Wright version. No maker’s mark is visible, and the exact production year is unknown.

This listing includes one open salt cellar, also called a salt dip. It measures approximately 2 inches across in the ruler photograph and weighs 3.2 ounces before packaging. No spoon or other accessory is included.
