L.E. Smith Moon & Star Light Blue Glass Covered Pedestal Candy Dish

This charming light-blue Moon & Star covered candy dish is a wonderful little display piece. Its rounded bowl and matching domed lid are covered in raised circular moons and tiny starbursts, with a short decorative finial on top and a patterned pedestal foot below. The soft blue color is especially pretty when the light catches all those pressed-glass details.

The Moon & Star design has roots in the nineteenth-century Palace pattern made by Adams & Company. L.E. Smith Glass later produced an expanded range of Moon & Star pieces in different forms and colors. This covered pedestal candy dish is attributed to L.E. Smith; an exact manufacturing date has not been established.

It's a lovely size for keeping small wrapped treats, displaying favorite trinkets, or adding a bit of color to a shelf or tabletop. The lid lifts off to reveal the matching patterned bowl, making it just as pretty open as it is closed.
