Moon and Star Colonial Blue Glass Epergne – L.E. Smith

A gorgeous statement piece for any Moon & Star collection, this Colonial Blue glass epergne combines the bold pressed-glass pattern with a tall removable flower-form vase rising from the center of a pedestal bowl.

The lower bowl features the classic Moon & Star pattern, with its repeating circular “moon” motifs, starbursts, and scalloped edge. A tall removable glass horn or vase fits into the center with a collar, creating a dramatic centerpiece that’s especially striking when the Colonial Blue glass catches the light.

This piece is attributed to L.E. Smith Glass Company. Smith produced an extensive line of Moon & Star glass beginning in the 1960s, and period advertising specifically lists both epergnes and Colonial Blue among the company’s offerings. Most L.E. Smith Moon & Star pieces were not marked, so we are listing the maker as an attribution rather than a definitive identification.

The removable center horn makes this an especially fun display piece. It could be used as a decorative centerpiece, filled with flowers, or displayed on its own as part of a collection of American pressed glass.
