Spider-Man #13 1991 Newsstand Todd McFarlane Black Suit Morbius Marvel Comics
One of the memorable issues from Todd McFarlane's celebrated solo Spider-Man series, Spider-Man #13 was published by Marvel Comics in August 1991 and features McFarlane's unmistakable writing and artwork.
This issue begins “Sub-City, Part One of Two,” sending Peter Parker beneath New York City to investigate a series of mysterious disappearances. Spider-Man returns to his classic black costume for the investigation and eventually encounters Morbius the Living Vampire. Importantly, this is the cloth black costume rather than the alien symbiote. Comics Price Guide
Todd McFarlane handled the story and artwork, and the dramatic cover is an homage to the composition of Spider-Man #1, another of McFarlane's best-known Spider-Man covers. The issue has become a popular Copper Age collectible thanks to the black-suit imagery, Morbius appearance and McFarlane artwork. Grand Comics Database
