SR39. Sears Merry Mushroom Ceramic Spice Shaker – 1976 Japan – Excellent Condition

An original 1976 Sears Merry Mushroom ceramic spice shaker, made in Japan as part of Sears’ iconic Merry Mushroom kitchen collection. This is the slender individual spice shaker originally designed to fit into the wooden Merry Mushroom spice rack, making it a particularly useful piece for collectors completing an original set.

The shaker has a creamy off-white ceramic body with a lightly ribbed vertical texture. The front features the instantly recognizable raised mushroom scene, including a large orange mushroom with dark brown spots, a smaller glossy brown mushroom, and dimensional green foliage. The oversized mushroom-cap top is glazed in warm golden yellow and deep brown and incorporates dispensing holes along with the charming small mushroom detail at the top.

The underside is clearly marked “© Sears, Roebuck and Co. 1976” and retains its original JAPAN sticker. The 1976 marking places this among the early examples of the Sears Merry Mushroom kitchenware line.

This example is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks noted. The glaze remains glossy, the raised ceramic decoration is crisp, and the orange, brown and green colors remain bright and attractive.

Whether needed as a replacement for an original Merry Mushroom spice rack or displayed on its own, this is a wonderful piece of authentic 1970s mushroom kitchenware. It fits especially well with retro kitchen, cottagecore and vintage mushroom collections.
