SR43. Sears Merry Mushroom Ceramic Spice Shaker – 1976 Japan – Excellent Condition

An original 1976 Sears Merry Mushroom ceramic spice shaker, made in Japan for the iconic Merry Mushroom kitchenware collection. This is one of the individual shakers designed to be grouped together as part of the larger Merry Mushroom spice rack set.

The shaker features the classic creamy off-white body with subtle vertical texture and colorful raised decoration. The front depicts a large orange mushroom with brown spots alongside a smaller glossy brown mushroom, surrounded by dimensional green woodland foliage. Its oversized mushroom-cap top is glazed in graduated shades of golden yellow and deep brown and features dispensing holes along with the small mushroom accent at the top.

The underside is marked “© Sears, Roebuck and Co. 1976” and retains its original JAPAN sticker—excellent identifying details for collectors seeking authentic pieces from the original Sears line.

This example is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips or cracks noted. The ceramic remains glossy, and the orange, brown and green raised decoration retains strong color and detail.

Individual Merry Mushroom spice shakers are especially useful for collectors assembling an original spice rack one piece at a time or replacing missing or damaged shakers from an existing set. Its unmistakable mushroom design also makes it a great standalone piece of retro 1970s kitchen decor.
