SR50. Sears Merry Mushroom Large Metal Canister with Lid – 1970s Mushroom Kitchen Decor

A wonderfully retro piece of Sears Merry Mushroom kitchenware, this large metal canister features the warm earth tones and whimsical mushroom graphics that made mushroom-themed kitchens so memorable during the 1970s.

The cream-colored metal canister is decorated with colorful mushroom scenes on both sides. The larger design features a bold yellow mushroom cap with black polka dots accompanied by brown and yellow mushrooms nestled among bright green foliage. The opposite side features an orange spotted mushroom alongside a smaller brown mushroom and greenery.

The coordinating metal lid has a distinctive ombré-style finish, transitioning from deep chocolate brown around the edge to warm yellow and cream toward the center. A small round knob completes the retro design. The canister measures approximately 6½ inches tall including the lid.

This piece shows age-related wear from previous use, including scratches, scuffs and finish wear on both the canister and lid. There is a significant chip/broken section along the inner rim of the lid, clearly shown in the photographs. The damage is primarily underneath the lid and is considerably less noticeable when the lid is sitting on the canister. The lid still accompanies the piece, but the damage should be considered when purchasing.

Despite the wear, the colorful mushroom graphics remain attractive and this piece displays wonderfully. It would make a fun addition to a retro kitchen, 1970s collection, cottagecore display, or an existing collection of mushroom kitchenware.
