SR53. Sears Merry Mushroom Ceramic Canister – 1982 Made in Japan – Missing Lid

A classic piece of Sears Merry Mushroom kitchenware, this ceramic canister dates to 1982 and features the whimsical mushroom artwork that has made the Merry Mushroom collection a favorite among retro kitchen collectors.

The creamy off-white ceramic canister features a colorful woodland mushroom design on the front, including a large orange mushroom with black polka dots alongside smaller brown, yellow, and orange mushrooms surrounded by green and blue foliage. Raised bands around the top and bottom give the canister a simple dimensional shape while keeping the colorful mushroom artwork as the focal point.

The bottom is clearly marked “© Sears, Roebuck and Co. 1982 Made in Japan,” confirming both its date and origin. Matching examples from this series were produced in graduated sizes as part of a coordinated ceramic kitchen canister set.

This canister is missing its original lid and is being sold as the canister only. That makes it a nice option for someone who already has a spare lid, needs a replacement canister to complete a Merry Mushroom set, or simply wants to use it open as a decorative crock. It could also work well for displaying kitchen utensils, artificial flowers, paintbrushes, or other small items.

The mushroom graphics remain colorful and display beautifully against the creamy ceramic background. Please review all photographs carefully for the exact condition, including any surface wear associated with age and use.
