Viking Ruby Red Diamond Thumbprint Pedestal Bowl, 5½ Inch

Deep ruby-red glass, a scalloped rim, and bold diamond-and-thumbprint panels give this Viking pedestal bowl its jewel-like appearance. The rounded bowl rests on a short flared stem and broad circular foot, creating a substantial, goblet-shaped display piece.

The pattern is Viking's Diamond Thumb Print, also commonly written Diamond Thumbprint. The molded SM mark visible underneath is consistent with Viking's Sandwich-pattern glass line. Catalog illustrations identify this short, open form as the No. 7209 candle glimmer rather than the taller drinking goblet. A closely matching bowl was also offered with a cover as No. 7206, so this piece is sold simply as the open pedestal bowl shown; no lid is included. Its original factory configuration and exact production year are not established.

The vintage pressed glass has rich color that appears darker around the thick rim and foot and brighter red where light passes through the bowl. It makes an attractive shelf accent, small decorative catchall, or addition to a collection of Viking and ruby glass. This listing is for one piece.
