L.E. Smith Moon & Star Colonial Blue Glass Banana Bowl – Pedestal Centerpiece
Bright Colonial Blue glass and the classic Moon & Star pattern make this L.E. Smith banana bowl a beautiful centerpiece. Its elongated, gently curved shape rises into a dramatic scalloped rim, while the short pedestal base adds another ring of raised moon-and-star details. The vibrant blue looks especially striking when light passes through the glass.
The Moon & Star design has a history stretching back to the nineteenth-century Palace pattern by Adams & Company. L.E. Smith Glass of Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania began making expanded Moon & Star designs in the 1960s using molds developed by Joseph Weishar and Island Mould. This banana-bowl form is associated with L.E. Smith's later pressed-glass production, rather than the original Victorian Palace line. Many Smith Moon & Star pieces are unmarked.
Use it as a fruit bowl or let it stand on its own as a colorful display piece on a dining table, sideboard, or shelf. It's also a lovely addition to a collection of Colonial Blue Moon & Star glass.
