SR41. Sears Merry Mushroom Ceramic Spice Shaker – 1976 Japan – Excellent Condition

An original 1976 Sears Merry Mushroom ceramic spice shaker, made in Japan as part of Sears’ beloved Merry Mushroom kitchenware collection. This is the tall, narrow individual shaker designed to fit the original Merry Mushroom spice rack and is a great replacement piece for collectors assembling a complete set.

The creamy off-white ceramic body has a subtle vertical texture and features the unmistakable raised Merry Mushroom design. A large orange mushroom with brown spots stands alongside a smaller glossy brown mushroom, surrounded by dimensional green foliage. The top resembles an oversized mushroom cap, finished in warm golden yellow and deep brown with dispensing holes and a small mushroom accent at the crown.

The underside is clearly marked “© Sears, Roebuck and Co. 1976” and retains its original JAPAN sticker. Reference examples of this individual Merry Mushroom spice-rack shaker measure approximately 4¾ inches tall with a narrow 1½-inch base and are documented as having been made in Japan.

This example is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks noted. The glaze remains glossy, the raised decoration is well defined, and the orange, brown and green colors remain bright. There may be very minor signs of age or storage consistent with a piece approaching 50 years old.

Whether used to complete an original Sears Merry Mushroom spice rack or displayed individually, this is a classic piece of 1970s mushroom kitchenware and a great addition to a retro, cottagecore or mushroom-themed kitchen collection.
