Westmoreland Milk Glass Hand-Painted Rose Covered Compote

A hand-painted pink rose bouquet, small blue and purple flowers, and fine gold bands decorate this Westmoreland milk glass covered compote. The smooth round bowl stands on an elegant pedestal, with a pointed finial lifting the matching lid.

The shape matches Westmoreland's No. 1902-2 covered compote. This example has a rose-and-floral decoration rather than the more commonly cataloged Roses & Bows garland. The underside of the lid is signed “L. Plues” with what appears to be “78,” consistent with a 1978 decoration date. A molded Westmoreland WG mark is visible beneath the foot. The exact factory decoration number has not been confirmed.
